About the speaker

Christopher Thomas KC is a Canadian barrister and solicitor based in Vancouver, whose career has spanned international trade law, advice to States on international treaty-making, investment treaty arbitration, and commercial dispute resolution. Appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2002, he has long experience in the regulation and settlement of cross-border trade and investment disputes. He has acted as counsel, panellist, or arbitrator in a wide range of proceedings under GATT, WTO, NAFTA, ICSID, PCA, and other international dispute settlement frameworks, as well as in contentious proceedings before the Canadian courts, and has served as an expert or amicus curiae before the Canadian, Singaporean and Hong Kong courts.
