Katy advises clients on M&A and equity investments, joint ventures and other strategic transactions in Australia and offshore, with a focus in the energy and resources sector. She also advises on foreign investment and critical infrastructure regulations, offtake and commodities marketing arrangements and project development.
Katy has more than 15 years of experience advising on transactions and projects spanning upstream oil & gas exploration and production, midstream transportation and storage infrastructure, LNG export and import facilities, mining and minerals processing and renewable projects.
Katy is recognised as a 'Next Generation Partner' for Energy (transactions and regulatory) in Australia by Legal 500 2026 and as a Notable Practitioner in Project Development in Australia by IFLR1000 (2023-2026).
Mandalay Resources: Acted for TSX listed gold and antimony producer, Mandalay Resources, on its merger with ASX listed Alkane Resources, which resulted in an implied market capitalization of the combined company of approx. A$1,013b.
Amplus Energy: Advising on Australian aspects of their US$15 million sale of Petrojarl I floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel to Finder Energy, involving a purchase price of cash and shares in Finder Energy (ASXL FDR).
Beetaloo Basin: Advising on the Territory's gas marketing arrangements securing future gas supply for the Territory, including the execution of gas deals with Central Petroleum.
Barossa LNG: Advised the export credit agencies and commercial bank lenders on the proposed financing of SK E&S’s 37.5% share of the Barossa LNG gas field.
Squadron Energy: Advising on the development of the Australian Industrial Energy Regasification Terminal at Port Kembla.
Arrow Energy: Advised on the joint sale with AGL of the Moranbah Gas Project to QPM.
Senex Energy: Advised on gas supply arrangements supporting its Queensland developments, including agreements with AGL, EnergyAustralia, BlueScope Steel, ENGIE, Orora and Visy to underpin its proposed $1billion Atlas Gas Project.
Australia Pacific LNG Pty Ltd: Advising on its A$24 billion CSG to LNG project, including multiple sale transactions, gas marketing, project development, and regulatory compliance.
Beach Energy: Advised on the structuring and sale of a 40% interest in its iconic Otway petroleum assets in offshore Victoria to OG Energy for $344 million, and on its consequential joint venture and tie-in arrangements.
Macquarie Capital: Advised on its participation in and exit from the Asian Renewable Energy Hub (a renewable green-hydrogen project being developed in Western Australia).
ConocoPhillips: Advised on the sale of its northern Australian and Timor-Leste business to Santos Limited for US$1.265 billion plus a contingent payment of US$200 million subject to FID on Barossa.
Consortium of sellers led by Brookfield and Macquarie: Advised on the US$2.15bn sale (plus deferred contingent payments and 36 royalties) of Quadrant Energy to Santos.
Repsol: Advised on the sale of its Papua New Guinea assets and operations to Arran Energy.
